Boat on Lake

Sophie Morse, M. Div

Through my faith I strive to build bridges between how we are and how we are called to be as practitioners of God’s radical and inclusive love.

Faith Background

I am a life-long member and ordained minister in the United Church of Christ. My faith background encompasses Nature-based spirituality, Progressive Christianity, and the study of both contemplative and revolutionary masters from numerous traditions.

Through my faith I strive to build bridges between how we are and how we are called to be as practitioners of God’s radical and inclusive love.  In particular, this means advocating for the inclusion and dignity of all those who have struggled with historic oppression and exclusion in pursuit of authentic beloved community.

Personal Background

Sophie grew up enjoying both the mountains and coastline of New England and Eastern Canada. Her love of the outdoors became a foundation of her theology and spirituality and fueled her first career as a professional mariner, sailing with youth, students, and elders on a historic Tall Ship dedicated to environmental education.

Later moving to the Pacific Northwest, Sophie answered a call to ministry and reconciliation work. While earning her Master of Divinity at Seattle University she also became a certified mediator. Since 2012 she has worked both in ministry and as a trainer in conflict engagement, communication, and facilitation skills helping others to master the skills of both deep listening and courageous speaking.

Sophie identifies as queer and lives with her partner in Poulsbo, WA. In her spare time, Sophie enjoys gardening, entertaining friends, advocating for a re-visioned future, and pursuing her endless curiosity of the sacred.
